There are many factors including personal, ones to consider before leaving to return home, but on the career and financial side it is worth bearing in mind that; - The economies of the region are growing rapidly and demand for people with your skills and experience is high and rising, particularly amongst Multinational firms and Financial Institutions.
- Salaries amongst senior professionals are rising much faster than inflation and therefore you will be surprised at how similar the relative living standards are for professional people when compared to the UK/Ireland.
- Career opportunities 'at home' with international firms are often as good as - or better than - those available in the UK/Ireland for senior professionals. Those with recent international experience are at a premium and can often secure posts with much greater seniority and status than are available to them in UK/Ireland.
- This situation may not persist in the medium-long run. Early returners benefit from their scarcity and the lack of experience of many locally trained staff currently. However, in future years the skilled labour market will 'normalise' and 'late returners' may find themselves a bit further down the pecking order and possibly crowded out from the best positions.
